Golden Arrow: A new look for advertising in Cape Town

Tractor Outdoor in partnership with Corne Krige of CK Outdoor have secured the  exclusive Full Wrap advertising rights of the Golden Arrow Transit Fleet

Golden Arrow operates  the largest bus network in the Western Cape with a fleet of over 900 buses. They transport over 55 million commuters per year (220 000 per day). “This is without a doubt the only medium available in the Western Cape that can give complete citywide coverage to advertisers” says Simon Wall, Sales Director of Tractor Outdoor.

The Cape Town media market has long been associated with geographic diversity and media fragmentation and now, for the first time, Tractor/CK offers a complete (and affordable) media solution for Cape Town. With bus usage at an all time high and people spending more time out of the home than ever before, it’s not surprising that transit media is a highly desirable medium. There are limited outdoor media opportunities in Cape Town’s city center but the Golden Arrow transit offering  will target almost 3 million mobile and difficult to reach commuters each week and also be visible to a any road user. As the public transport of choice for most Capetonians, the Golden Arrow transit hubs and bus stops are located in high pedestrian and prime retail areas.

Offering unrivalled regional coverage and frequency, bus advertising delivers a truly broadcast medium with 90% of Capetownian’s (4 million plus) living within five minutes of a bus route.

For advertisers looking to make a bold and highly visible statement, buses offer a variety of creative large format opportunities. From wrapping a whole bus to utilizing the sides or rear panels, buses offer incredible scope for eye-catching design as well as the ability to showcase brand messages to consumers on the move across Cape Town

Advertisers have traditionally been unable to run effective advertising campaigns due to strict municipal restrictions imposed on billboards in Cape Town – but with the introduction of the Golden Arrow Transit  fleet as an outdoor medium, advertisers will be able to run multiple campaigns and achieve saturation coverage comparable to TV and Radio formats but with the additional benefit of being larger than life and more cost effective.

“We are extremely pleased to be working with Golden Arrow on this project” says Corne Krige, one of the principals in the project. “With the World Cup just around the corner, this is an incredible opportunity for advertisers and sponsors to stimulate interest and maximize their brand exposure.”
